Written for Dr. Brett Dietz, “Oscillate” is a short concert snare drum solo that can’t seem to make up it’s mind about which sticking is best used with certain rhythms or which part of the drum or stick to play on or with. More broadly, inspiration for this piece comes from the need to make up one's own mind about life and not be swayed by the constant influences of modern social and political life… Which is probably too deep for a short snare drum solo!
